Martha's Table Announces Summer Food Programs

Veteran legal professional Deena Williamson brings more than two decades of experience to her current position as general counsel and corporate secretary with IBEX Global. Outside of her professional life, Deena Williamson gives back to the community through involvement with nonprofit initiatives including AIDS Walk and Martha’s Table.

Founded in 1979, Martha’s Table supports underserved and needy populations in Washington, DC, through food drives, education programs, and thrift shop initiatives. The organization relies on the efforts of more than 16,000 annual volunteers and fundraising events such as Sips & Suppers, a celebration of food hosted by famous chefs such as Alice Waters.

Martha’s Table recently announced an initiative to fight hunger among the student population of Washington, DC. Many students in the city rely on school-provided meals for health and nutrition; in the summer months, many of these students go without. To combat this problem, Martha’s Table has launched popup “Joyful Food Markets,” which will dispense 23-pound bags of groceries free of charge in July and August. Additionally, the organization will continue its McKenna’s Wagon program, which distributes nutritious meals across the city, as well as its popular Mini-Market, which offers monthly allotments of produce and kitchen staples to local families.
